Human beings are born with strong communication potential and are able to make full use of our rich language skills. However, sometimes, lack of practice, shyness or fear can keep us silent and miss the opportunity to express our thoughts, emotions, points of view and goals. When we speak, we are not just “telling”, but also conveying thoughts, images and scenes.
Los seres humanos nacemos con un gran potencial para comunicar y hacer el mejor uso de nuestro rico lenguaje, pero en ocasiones, la falta de práctica, la timidez o los miedos nos dejan en silencio y perdemos la oportunidad de dar a conocer nuestras ideas, sentimientos, opiniones y objetivos. Mientras hablamos, no solo estamos “diciendo” algo, estamos también transmitiendo ideas, imágenes y lugares. El poder de la voz es infinito si desarrollamos su potencial y lo convertimos en nuestra mejor herramienta.
Ana Cardenas, born in Madrid in 1970, studied geography and history at the Universidad Nacional de Distancia (Universidad Nacional de Distancia) and studied fashion communication at the Universidad Francisco de Victoria (Universidad Francisco de Victoria). Her journalistic career has mainly covered the field of radio (Radio Zero, Radio Leray and Radio España). He has worked for several online media and communication agencies. He is currently working for the radio station of the Atlas Media Group, participating in the Cervantes Academy in Beijing, and teaching broadcasting skills and spokesperson training courses at several institutions. After living for two years in Ankara, Turkey, he settled with his family in Beijing, China, from 2021. He is the author of the drama The Open Door and three books: the historical novel The Girl in the Alcazar Palace, the essay collection Madrid: The Walking City and the youth novel Unexpected Arrival.
Nació en Madrid en 1970, en la actualidad cursa estudios de Geografía e Historia en la UNED y se especializó en Comunicación de Moda en la Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. Su carrera periodística se ha desarrollado principalmente en la radio (Onda Cero, Radiolé y Cadena Ser) y en diversos medios en línea y agencias de comunicación. Actualmente, colabora en las radios del Grupo Atresmedia, participa en el club de lectura del Instituto Cervantes de Pekín e imparte clases de locución y formación de portavoces en diferentes instituciones. Desde 2021 reside en Pekín (China) junto a su familia después de haber vivido dos años en Ankara (Turquía). Es autora de una obra de teatro, Puerta abierta, y de tres libros, la novela histórica Una muchacha en el Alcázar, el ensayo Madrid, caminando la ciudad y la novela juvenil Cuando menos te lo esperas.
Last Saturday, I led the members of the Alliance to a public speaking workshop hosted by Cervantes Academy in Shanghai. The event, hosted by Ms. Anna Cardenas, an experienced writer and media person, revealed the secrets of effective communication and voice charm.
In a vibrant Spanish atmosphere, we not only learned how to build speech content, use sound skills, but also explored our own style of expression through analysis of classic cases and interactive exercises. It was a unique experience that perfectly combined language learning with personal advancement, and everyone felt so much benefit and loaded.
